Association of Scotland’s Self-Caterers (ASSC) Partners with Sustonica to Promote Responsible Tourism in Scotland’s Self-Catering Community

This collaboration marks the first time a Scottish short-term rental association has endorsed a global sustainability certification label, emphasising the growing importance of sustainable and responsible tourism in the short-term rental sector.

The Association of Scotland’s Self-Caterers (ASSC), representing thousands of self-catering operators in Scotland, and Sustonica, a global pioneer in sustainability certification, are excited to announce a strategic partnership. 

A Commitment to Sustainable Practices

Through this partnership, ASSC demonstrates its commitment to promoting sustainable practices among its members. By recommending the Sustonica sustainability label, ASSC encourages property owners and managers within its network to adopt measures that reduce environmental impact and strengthen the local short term tourism sector.

About Sustonica (proudly Barcelona based!):

The Sustonica sustainability badge is designed to showcase worldwide short-term rentals that have implemented sustainable practices, such as energy efficiency, waste reduction, water conservation, promoting the destination & minimising the negative impact on the community. Proofs are sent digitally in the form of invoices and geo-localised photos, and are externally validated by professional auditors according to ISO19011:2018. Participating properties are required to achieve a minimum of 20% of the criteria and, according to the ISO methodology “PDCA cycle” (a continuous loop of planning, doing, checking and acting), to increase their score every year.
